The Olympics comes to Wiltshire Since London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympics, we have been working on a bid to host an international team for their final pre-games training camp. On Monday 3rd March 2008, we received the fantastic news from the British Olympic Committee that our bid has been successful. We will now feature in the brochure published and distributed internationally by The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) from which teams will select their final training destination before the 2012 Olympic games. WSG awarded British
Gymnastics' coveted GymMark![]() ![]() WSG is proud to announce that on 23 July 2007 it was officially notified by British Gymnastics that it meets all of the requirements needed to achieve GymMark status. GymMark recognises that the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics provides a "safe, effective and child-friendly environment" in which young people can participate in the sport. GymMark is British Gymnastics' stamp of quality assurance for gymnastics clubs. The scheme has been developed by British Gymnastics, in partnership with Sport England and the Home Country Sports Councils, to provide recognition for clubs that are committed to providing quality gymnastics experiences. Gaining GymMark accreditation means the club is recognised by British Gymnastics, Sport England and the Home Country Sports Councils as a safe, effective and child friendly club, providing a service in the community, that children and young people, their parents/carers, and others with an interest in gymnastics, can trust. |

A jewel in the crown of
British gymnastics - the new glossy from WSG WSG is one of the top gymnastics clubs in the South West of England and has had an excellent tradition of gymnastics since the 1970s, achieving charity status in 1994. Lottery funding allowed us to build a new gymnasium which was officially opened by The Princess Royal in 2001. We offer truly excellent gymnastics coaching in modern surroundings, with all of the equipment necessary to inspire and train gymnasts of all ages and abilities. What started as humble beginnings quickly developed into a facility envied by many across the United Kingdom and is something of which we are extremely proud. Another source of pride is our team of gymnasts, some of whom have already represented Great Britain internationally. We have high hopes for several of our Elite Gymnasts and of course, the Beijing and London Olympics beckon. Run by a team of volunteer Trustees, but with a professional coaching team led by High Performance Coach Rachel Levick, the School is entirely financed by gymnasts’ fees, fundraising, donations and sponsorship... more |
