Summer Training Camp - Monday 14th to Thursday 17th August

WSG is holding its 5th summer training camp from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th August and we would like to invite your chid/children to participate.

The camp is open any gymnast of 8 years or older (1998 or older) who is working towards “Wiltshire Grades” or above.

The cost is £80 per gymnast, which includes a fully supervised programme enabling the gymnast to participate in sports acrobatics, dance, rhythmic, tumble, trampolining and artistic gymnastics on all of the club's equipment. The cost also includes a t-shirt and a party for all participants on Thursday 17th August, finishing at 6pm.

We have once again secured the services of the Sports Acrobatics coaches from Question Display Team (previously Riverside Display Team), who have attended the camp for the last 4 years, in addition to our own professional coaching team.

Closing date for booking is Saturday 22nd July. Spaces are limited, so early booking to avoid disappointment, for what will be a fun, exciting and challenging camp, is advised!

South West Squad success for 9 WSG gymnasts

9 of our best gymnasts are in the South West Squad.  The trial was held at the City of Bristol Gymnastics Club and gymnasts attended from all over the region including Port Regis, Exeter, Bristol and Poole.

The day was split into two sessions. One session was to select gymnasts into the squad which entitles them to train with the best coaches and gymnasts in the region. Competition for places was strong and out of 21 candidates only ten were selected, 2 of which - Rebecca Tamin (11) and India Rose-Mills (11) are from WSG.

The rest of the day was a training session for elite gymnasts already selected onto the squad, either by placing in the top four at last September's South West Age-group Championships or based on merit FIG level gymnasts. WSG is proud to have 7 elite gymnasts in the squad: Jessica Coombs (13), Olivia Grout (13), Leanna Clarke (12), Katie Moffat (11), Pip Higgs (11), Francesca Grout (10) and Antonia Bates (10).

The day was also used to select gymnasts for the South West team at the British Schools Championships in Newcastle in March.  Again, WSG is well represented with Katie Moffat, Pip Higgs and India Rose Mills selected onto the Junior team and Jessica Coombs, Leanna Clarke and Olivia Grout for the Senior team.
