At around school age children generally move out of pre-school classes and begin their gymnastics as recreational gymnasts in classes run by Natasha Clarke an her team. All classes are mixed boys and girls, with mixed age groups and abilities. The structure of recreational gymnastics is that the young gymnast works through a series of badges for attainment of certain skills from Badge 7 through to Badge 1. As with pre-school gym, recreational gymnastics is well structured and offers challenging gymnastics apparatus on which to work as the gymnast progresses through the British Gymnastics Association awards. Recreational gymnastics is fun and exciting and will offer your child a real sense of achievement. Young gymnasts who show potential for more complex gymnastics may move up to Grades classes run by Holly Jones and her team where they move through four attainment levels from Grade 4 through to Grade 1 by way of successfully achieving the required score in Grades Competitions. These take place twice a year. Grades gymnasts who show potential for the higher levels of the sport may be invited to join the Competition Groups run by head coach Rachel Levick, where they have the opportunity to develop their gymnastics to the highest levels of the sport, which may include selection for regional, national or even international squads. Different times and pricing structures apply to this group of talented young athletes and are detailed here. Before they are allowed to attend gymnastics classes all gymnasts must be insured. We have group cover for this purpose and the annual insurance fee is £15 per child and covers the period from the 1st October to the 31st September each year. Class fees are detailed below and are payable half-termly in advance. Prices are reduced if you enrol a gymnast into more than one hour per week. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any refunds once a class has been booked, whatever the reason for cancellation. While all classes are open to non-members, please remember that we are a small educational charity and that you can become a member for a small annual subscription as explained here. Prices for members recognise their longer-term commitment to gymnastics and their club. If you would like to enrol for one of our gymnastics classes, or would like more information, please contact Erin Rockley on reception during normal working hours, write to us at the address on the home page or e-mail us.
